Mariners @ Red Sox Preview
The Red Sox exactly what they have been looking for from Lester last night. Today, we will find out if Beckett can start earning his paycheck. Beckett has basically been tared and feathered since the whole golfing incident and made it 10 times worse by coming out up 7 runs in just 2 1/3 innings against the Indians. Want to put this stuff behind you Beckett? Do what Lester did last game.
That's the problem with Beckett, you just don't know what you're going to get from him. In his first start of the season he let up 7 runs. He then pitched 4 quality starts in a row (6+ innings 3 or less runs), only to turn around he get lit up for 7 runs again. Seattle is a terrible hitting team, so there is no reason why Beckett should be able to go 7 innings and he shouldn't let up any more than 3 runs.
Going against Beckett is 22 year old Blake Beavan. He has had a decent start to the year with a 4.32 ERA, but has go very little run support and thus has a record of 1-3. The Red Sox hit Beavan hard in dealing him two losses last year, totaling nine runs and 20 hits in 13 innings. Ortiz in particular has crushed him going 3 for 7 with a homer and a double, Adrian Gonzalez is 3 for 6 with two doubles.
No excuse for the Red Sox to lose this game today.
Red Sox win 6-3

In other news during warmups today Doubront took a fly ball off the side of the head. He was knocked down when it happened, but was able to leave the field under his own power. We haven't heard anything from the Red Sox, but Doubront says he is fine.
