"Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe had this: "Bass has a player option at $4 million for next season. That certainly be a major issue for the Celtics this summer, as Bass could become an unrestricted free agent and cash in on his newfound success."
DP and I have talked about this a bunch and it is almost certain he will turn down that player option. You can't blame him, he has shown all season he is worth more than $4 million. My hope is that he is able to comeback. He is still just 26 year old, and is having a career while playing along side Rondo. Maybe this will kind of be like Welker and he'll know that he shouldn't stray too far away from someone who makes him a better player. It is not hard to see how much better of a player he is now.
Career stats: 8.4 ppg, 4.4 rebs
With Celtics: 12.6, 6.20 rebs
Sure you can chalk some of this up to the fact he is getting more minutes, but I have really been impressed with this kid. He deserves at least a 3 year deal, and if the Celtics can get him for $6-7 million a year I think it's a good deal. Maybe that is a little low, but I also think Bass wants to stay here...
Bass also said he "wants to be here a long time playing alongside (Rajon) Rondo," according to Washburn.
My guess is that Garnett comes back on a 2 year $20 million deal, and Bass also is back. I also think Peitrus will be back, the one I am not sure about is Ray Allen. I am not sure if this move to the bench pissed him off, and if he would rather go start somewhere else. The other side of that is he is very settled here with his family. I would love to see all of them come back, and then add the young kids (Bradley, 2 first round picks, ect) around them. Kind of like what the Spurs do.
