Top 25 Under 25: #22 Starlin Castro
Born: March 24, 1990 (age 22)
Team: Chicago Cubs
Position: SS
Castro was called up to the majors on May 7, 2010. I point that out because he was the first MLB player in history to be born in the 1990's. Feel old yet?
Castro didn't disappoint hitting .300 with 3 HRs 41 RBIs and 10 SBs in 2010. Yea, maybe you aren't blown away by those numbers, but he just 19 YEAR OLD! In Castro's first full season in the pro he hit .307 10 HRs 66 RBIs and 22 SBs and made his first All-Star team.
Now, this kid is still raw. He doesn't walk a lot, and on defense, he led all major league shortstops in errors, with 29, as he also had the lowest fielding percentage (.961) in 2011.
Still, you can't deny this kid's talent and there is no chance he won't be a star for about the next 15 years.
Wow, I can't believe the Sox weren't able to trade Theo for him...
