Celtics @ Knicks Preview

The Celtics are getting Ray Allen back tonight, and Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett should also be back on the floor. I expect big games from Pierce and Garnett, while I think Allen could be a little rusty.

The Celtics have gone 13-4 record over the past four weeks, and can clinch a fifth straight division title if they beat the Knicks and Philadelphia loses at home to Indiana.

The Knicks meanwhile are on a streak of their own going 13-5 since interim coach Mike Woodson took over for Mike D'Antoni. The reason for the turn around? I think D'Antoni is a shitty coach, they are finally playing defense, and now they know where the ball is going (Carmelo).

The Celtics are 2-1 against the Knicks this year. Each game has been within 4 points, so you would think this game would be close. Yet, I don't think it will be. The Celtics rested their stars, they have guys who are taking their games to the next level (Bradley, Bass, Stiemsma), and I think they match up pretty well against this team. Sure Chandler might be able to slow down KG, but he also hurt his knee on Sunday, so we don't know how healthy he really is. Plus, Pierce has scored 30+ points the last two times they faced off, and there is just no one on the Kicks roster that is going to be able to control Rondo. On the defensive ends I think a combo of Pierce, and Pietrus could be enough to at least aggravate Melo. You aren't going to shut him down, but they can do enough to win.

Celtics win 98-89
Tommy Award: Pierce
Game starts at 8pm
